Tuscany

Today we are off to Tuscany with Siena as our first destination.

A beautiful city where I have been before by train and I tell you, with the car it is terrible.

A lot of parking spaces are blocked, going into the city was not possible either. So parking outside the city and walking into the centre, via many, many, many stairs😅. I start off full of courage, but then I lose it a little.

Oh well, it is worth it. In between the exercise, of course, I have a caffè and I can't resist, so a nice pastry is in order.

For lunch, I have Montalcino in mind, so in the midst of great wines it must be a good place to be.

A short drive and I am there. Right on time, 12.30 pm. I am so disappointed: a sleepy village with only one restaurant open and it is full.

On to Montepulciano, also nice and also beautiful wines. I spot a small restaurant, stop and don't look any further otherwise lunch time is over🤨

I order bruschetta as starter and then pasta bolognese with a glass of wine. Staff tells me, they are the only ones open. Not until March will more open.

Tuscany is a disappointment, even the landscape is dull. Next time I'll have a look in autumn.

After consulting the map I continue to Orvieto.

I am so lucky! A great B&B with its own parking area. Highly recommended B&B Chiara e Benedetta. I get metal supports for the wheels because … it is steep 😲

I quickly grab my suitcase, freshen up and then… it’s Aperitivo time. Served with ham, sausage, cheese and pieces of bread. No need for dinner after this one. Tomorrow Orvieto awaits!!!!!
