Terracina

I ate such a delicious and interesting pizza that I really have to tell you about it.

The pizza dough is made of 5 kinds of flour, namely Farine al 10 Cereali, Farine di Farre, Farine di Tipo 1 e di Tipo 2, Farine di Kamut. And the rising takes between 24 and 72 hours.

So I thought I knew a thing or two about pizza dough, haha...not! The owner has won every possible gold medal and from now on I am convinced that I know nothing about pizza dough🤔 If you are ever in Terracina, definitely go and taste this at "Cioffi Serafina".

I immediately booked a table for tomorrow night again. Nice, close by and a very good menu.

After breakfast, I'm sitting lazily in the sun on my terrace with robust walking shoes 👟 waiting for Mateo. The town is waiting.

I'm going at a brisk pace as I'm used to going up and down😅 by now.

Hè, hè, the city gate is there. I end up on a square with on the right the Teatro Romano di Terracina and on the left the Cattedrale di Terracina. The excavations are in full swing but I can already see where the benches were and where the stars of the time were singing or acting. Long live opera 🎶.

Quickly an espresso at Caffè del Duomo at the bar and then the scrambling begins. I love to wander around in all those nice little streets with beautiful vistas, galleries and shops.

I notice that in Italy shops are in the most interesting places. For example the butcher along the main road? And busy 😳. You have to queue up!

I slowly wander down through all kinds of streets to the sea. It is lovely sunny weather and at the main street I come across an ice cream parlour. I stop immediately otherwise I'll be in a marital quarrel 😂

Do you also have something you really want to eat when the weather starts getting summery? I do, and in summer it’s watermelon. I'm looking forward to it already. Roasted, in a salad or a nice chilled slice to bite into. Mmmm🍉

Speaking of food, it's lunch time. Plenty of restaurants and terraces to choose from.

I'm going for a restaurant with a terrace in the sun. I like that, after all it is not yet summer, so it is nice to sit in the sun. I order spaghetti alle vongele and Mateo frittata frutti di mare. A nice glass of prosecco beforehand because I'm too young😃and wine of the house to accompany the food.

With a beaming smile, our spaghetti and fried frutti di mare are served. It all smells delicious. And it IS delicious😋 Here I toast🥂.

Going back upstairs with a full belly is l ess cool, but we have to. I slowly puff upwards and stop here and there. The view is beautiful and the old city is a picture.

Finally there: the Caffè di Duomo is calling.

Unfortunately, there is no terrace, but there are tables inside where I order an Apérol-Spritz and have a pleasant chat with the German-speaking boss. It's a bit annoying that I can't practice my Italian anywhere, because all Italians want to practice their English or German.

Okay rest break over, back home. Quickly as I suddenly think of my own little terrace in the sun. Just that little bit of sun extra today.

It is 8 o'clock and I am ready to go. What do you think? Right “Cena”!

I am so curious about the speciality of the house. A big deep pan with all the fish, shellfish and crustaceans of the moment in a soup. I am thinking Bouillabaisse… I want to be surprised and I am.👏 This is not Bouillabaisse, thankfully, this is pure bliss. Great!!! Nothing is overcooked and the soup is lightly spiced. Absolutely delicious. I am a very happy lady right now and the cook loves me enjoying 😀

I order another espresso and go to pay. But big shock, my card doesn't work in their machine. How annoying that I don't have my wallet with my other cards with me😝.

No problem then come and pay tomorrow! What a confidence😊 Of course we will do that and next time I will come back.

Ciao Ciao Terracina 🤗
