Meeting new friends

After our impressive visit to the Sassi and walk through Matera town we sit down for drinks. It’s been a brisk walk.

Together with another couple, we occupy the terrace; it is still too early for Italians.

Let that 'other couple' be Irish. We start talking and it clicks. The men have the same interest: beer.

The ladies have several other interests and in our conversation it came up that I am a cook and she restores old paintings and murals. Her dad invented the scene on the square where James Bond spins his car for the film "No Time to Die". So I sit in this square and thoroughly enjoy myself.

One round after the other comes through, but I am no match for the Irish🤣 I order several more tasty Aperitivo snacks and in the end get reasonably well through this binge 😅.

Our next stage leads to Capilungo on the west coast of Puglia.
