Matera, from poorest area in Italy in the 1950s to beautiful and lively town with big and small squares, many terraces, beautiful shops and good food.

Nothing better in life than meeting new people, sharing drinks and food together and walking away with new friends.

The Sassi, Unesco World Heritage Sites, are very interesting.

Maratea, beautiful little town. The first settlements in the Maratea region date back to the Paleolithic era. And since the 15th–14th century BC the village is small trading center. Nowadays mainly known for the big statue of Christ, built of pure Carrara marble in 1965 by Bruno Innocenti, a sculptor from Florence.

For my last visit in the region on the Amalfi Coast, I visit Vietri sul Mare.

This is a very cute little town with a nice harbour and the best fish preserving companies in Italy.

Here you can buy seasonally preserved glass fish, but they also have the best fish sauce there is.

You should definitely visit. The ancient Greek temples are really worthwhile. Especially at sunset, I like them at their best.

Much attention is paid to the animal welfare, combining the tradition of pampering the animals with showers, brushes and music with the modern milking robot so the animals can choose their own milking times.

“The older the crazier”, we say in Dutch and rightfully so. Honestly I had to grow 70+ years old to rediscover camping and actually liking it.

What a picturesque old town. Bit dangerous living on the edge of the abyss 😳Fortunately, I understand that most of the houses still standing are safe. The houses that are wobbly are empty. Jeez just imagine living like this. I am a little dubious.

A nice harbour town with fortification walls. Within the fortification I look for the church and automatically find the old centre. Church, nice square and a nice terrace in the sun.

it’s three floors by elevator plus four huge escalators up, to get into town. But absolutely worth it.

Tuscany in winter is not my thing. But of course I ended up in an amazing place.
